U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Three Falcons earned all-Atlantic Hockey honors, as announced today by the league office.
Senior defenseman Chris Hedden was named first team while junior defenseman Nolan Cunningham and junior goalie Dominik Wasik were named to the third team.
The three award winners tie as the most since four Falcons were honored in 2011-12.
Hedden, from Kalamazoo, Mich., had more goals (9) and points (24) in league play than any other AHA defenseman. He also had two power-play goals, two short-handed goals and was a +7 (tied for third best) in 26 conference games. In all games, Hedden led the team with 12 goals and 34 points. Hedden's 12 goals and 34 points are second in the nation for a defenseman. He is a five-time AHA Defenseman of the Week and is on the ballot for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. He also led the team with 63 blocked shots in all games. Hedden was a second-team all-conference selection as a sophomore. He is the first Falcon to earn first team honors since Will Gavin in 2023-24 and the first defenseman since Phil Boje in 2016-17.
Cunningham, from Helena, Mont., was third in the league in points (16) and plus-minus (+7) among league defensemen in conference games. His two power-play goals tied for first among AHA blueliners and his six goals were second in the league. In all games, Cunningham was fifth on the team in points (20) and goals (7). His three-game winners led the team and he added 36 blocked shots.
Wasik, from Superior, Colo., tied for the AHA lead with 13 wins and three shutouts in conference games. In AHA games only, he was second in saves (628) and fifth in goals-against average (2.36). He was named the AHA Goalie of the Week four times and the AHA Goalie of the Month twice. In all games, Wasik had four shutouts this season, tied for the sixth most in the nation. In Air Force's conference era (since 1999-00), only four Falcon goalies have recorded more than four shutouts in a season. Wasik started the last 32 games of the season and led the Falcons to 17 wins. His 17 wins are the sixth most in Air Force's conference era. Wasik is the first goalie in a non-COVID year to earn all-conference honors since Billy Christopoulos was a first-team selection in 2018-19.
Air Force closed out the regular season with an 18-15-4 record, the first winning season since 2018-19. The 18 wins tie (2023-24) as the most since 2017-18. Air Force went 8-4-2 in the final 14 games of the season and earned 11 road wins, the most since the 2017-18 season.
