
We’re In: Falcons Draw WNIT First Round Home Match with Northern Colorado on Thursday Night

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Postseason basketball is back in Clune Arena, as Air Force Women's Basketball makes its return to the 2026 Women's National Invitational Tournament. In the first round, the Falcons are set to host Northern Colorado at 6:30 p.m. MT on Thursday, March 19. The winner of Thursday's contest is set to take on South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. with date and time to be determined.
The 16-18 Falcons are back in postseason action following a historic run in the 2026 Mountain West Championships in Las Vegas. Air Force was Mountain West Tournament runner-up after becoming the first-ever nine seed to play into the championship round, defeating No. 8 Wyoming, No. 1 San Diego State and No. 5 Boise State along the way. Air Force's 2026 WNIT bid marks its third ever and the first time in program history to host postseason basketball inside Clune Arena in back-to-back seasons.
Northern Colorado (22-10) enters its sixth WNIT after falling to Eastern Washington in the third round of the Big Sky Women's Basketball Championship. The Bears closed their regular season in third place among Big Sky opponents and led the league in scoring defense (68.5), three-point defense (27.8) and bench points per game (29.4).
Air Force is currently 23-21 in the all-time series with the Bears, sporting wins in the last three meetings between both programs.
