Falcons Open Outdoor Season at Dan Caprioglio Invitational

The Air Force track and field team kicks off the outdoor portion of the 2026 season this weekend (March 20-21), when the squad travels down to Pueblo for the annual Dr Dan Caprioglio Invitational at the Thunderbowl Stadium.

MEET INFORMATION
The majority of the Dr Dan Caprioglio Invitational will be held inside the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl, located off Rawlings Blvd., on the eastern side of campus, while the throwing events will take place across the street, in an area adjacent to the Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. The triple jump, hammer throw and javelin throw will be held on Friday, while the remaining events will take place on Saturday. Live results are scheduled through Rapid Results. Tickets ($10 for adults, $5 for children (7-17) and seniors) can be purchased online at GoThunderwolves.com.

Eight Falcons hail from the state of Colorado, including one [Matthew Edwards] from nearby Monument. The squad's Centennial State roster also includes athletes from Breckenridge [Dominykas Remeikis, Josh Shriver], Cascade [Cody Kelley], Denver [Ryan Hajek], Glenwood Springs [Ella Johnson], Highlands Ranch [Jayden Nats], and Longmont [Ella Pears].

Air Force's outdoor roster includes one All-American [Texas Tanner – first-team hammer throw], eight NCAA Qualifiers [Morgan Glaser – high jump; Asher Jenkins – 100-meter dash; India Jones – 10,000-meter run; Jayden Nats – 10,000-meter run; Saketh Rudraraju – 1500-meter run; Max Sannes – 10,000-meter run; Ben Scheller – 1500-meter run; Tanner – shot put, discus throw, hammer throw], one Mountain West Record Holder [Tanner – hammer throw], two Air Force Record Holders [Kayla Beach – long jump, heptathlon; Tanner – discus throw, hammer throw], two Mountain West champion [Tanner – discus throw, hammer throw; Jenkins – 4x100-meter relay], and one MW runner-up [Ella Johnson – 10,000-meter run].
ON THE SIDELINES
Ryan Cole is in his fourth season as Air Force's Director of Track & Field and Cross Country and his 12th year overall as coach of the men's middle distance and distance runners, while Scott Steffan is in his fourth year as Head Coach and his 19th season overseeing the Falcons' jumps and multi program. Cole and Steffan will be joined by assistant coaches Laura Bowerman [women's middle distance, distance], Kyle Lillie [throws] and newcomer Dan Stoll [sprints, hurdles]. Former coaches Scott Irving [javelin] and Mark Stanforth [distance], as well as former Falcons 1Lt AJ Kedge [recruiting] and 1Lt Michelle Roca [hurdles] will also assist the program.
WHAT'S ON DECK
The Falcons head to California next week for a week of training and competition during the Academy's spring break. Air Force will spend the beginning of the trip in San Diego, before heading to Los Angeles for the Jim Bush Legends Meet on March 27-29 at UCLA.
