SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Air Force senior Tai Gopaul was named Gymnast of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation this afternoon (March 24), following an impressive weekend at the USAG Collegiate Nationals that included an event title on the high bar. It is the first conference award for the Buffalo Grove, Ill., native – and the third of the year for the Falcons' gymnastics program.
As the final competitor of the event finals at the USAG Collegiate Nationals on March 21, Gopaul garnered a score of 13.550 – a mark just 0.050 shy of his own Air Force Record – to capture the high bar title. In his final weekend of competition at Cadet West Gym, Gopaul secured USAG All-America honors on that event for the second-straight year. Backed by a third-place finish on the high bar during the team finals on March 20, he was the Falcons' top scorer on three events (floor exercise, still ring – tie, high bar) and advanced to the individual event finals on both the rings and high bar.
Gopaul and his teammates will travel to Berkeley, Calif., next weekend (April 4) for the 2026 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships against California, Oklahoma and Stanford.
