Sergey Resnick, the 2024 USAG Assistant Coach of the Year, is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with the Air Force men’s gymnastics program. Resnick, a two-time All-American on the parallel bars, brings a wealth of experience to the Falcons – having competed on two national championship teams during his collegiate career.
Resnick’s efforts on the sidelines helped the Falcons to an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2023 – the placement that marked the program’s best national finish since 1972. Air Force, which collected another NCAA top-10 finish in 2024, saw Patrick Hoopes became the Academy’s first-ever NCAA champion last season, as he won the pommel horse with the second-highest score in program history (15.300).
Under his watch, the Falcons captured the 2024 team title at the USAG Collegiate Nationals – a finish that helped Resnick claim his first USAG Assistant Coach of the Year award. He has seen the Falcons claim 10 USAG individual titles in the last two seasons, while Hoopes has gone on two capture a pair of NCAA All-America honors. The Falcons have matched their best conference finish (third) twice, while Air Force also returned to the top of the podium at the All-Academy Championships – defeating service academy rivals Army West Point and Navy in each of the last two years.
Resnick came to the Academy following a stint at Enrich Gymnastics and Dance in Houston, where he coached the 2018 Junior National champion. Resnick, who got his coaching start at the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy, has worked with members of the Junior National Team during coaching stops at both Enrich and the Cypress Gymnastics Academy.
Resnick competed collegiately for the University of Oklahoma and helped the Sooners capture a pair of NCAA championships. A two-time All-American on the parallel bars (2015, 2016), he was a team captain of the 2016 squad that won the national title by nearly 10 points. Resnick, a four-year member of the Sooners’ varsity rotation, also helped OU win four-straight Mountain Pacific Sports Federation titles and captured an individual conference title on the pommel horse as a freshman.
As a former Sooner, Resnick is no stranger to Cadet West Gym. He won three Rocky Mountain Open titles on the pommel horse and two on the parallel bars during his time with Oklahoma, while also claiming his 2013 conference title on the pommel horse at the Academy-hosted MPSF Championships.
A native of Houston, Resnick graduated from OU in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree that included an emphasis in health, exercise science and psychology.
