Captain Tristan Newkirk is in his first season with the Air Force lacrosse team as the volunteer assistant coach.
Capt. Newkirk played Division I Lacrosse at the United States Air Force Academy from 2008-2011. He was the team captain his senior year and named to the Academic All-ECAC team in 2011, playing in all 53 of his collegiate games. He finished his college career with 16 points after making the switch from offensive midfield to LSM his senior year.
Newkirk was the assistant varsity lacrosse coach at Syracuse High School in Ogden, Utah, from 2012-2014. During that time, he coached two state runner-up and three conference champion teams in his three seasons as assistant coach. He was recognized in 2013 as the DII Utah State Assistant Coach of the Year. In 2015, Newkirk was named head coach of the Syracuse High School varsity program and compiled a 12-6 overall record.
A native of Albany, N.Y., Newkirk earned his bachelor's degree in systems engineering management in 2011 from the Air Force Academy and holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Finance from Indiana University. He is currently an instructor in the Department of Management at USAFA.
