Nick Castro enters his third year in 2025-26 as an assistant coach for Air Force men’s tennis.
Castro was instrumental in guiding the program to 11 wins in 2024-25, nearly doubling the win total from the previous season. The Falcons earned a pair of Mountain West wins, doing so for just the fourth time in the MW history. One of the wins was over #65 New Mexico, snapping a 25-match losing streak to the Lobos, which dated back 20 years to 2005. It was also Air Force's first win over a ranked opponent since 2013. Air Force also defeated Navy for the second-straight time at College MatchDay as the USTA Training Center in Orlando, Fla.
Castro was instrumental in bringing in a top-notch recruiting class to the Academy for the 2024-25 season, which was ranked 9th in the nation for mid-major programs according to tennisrecruiting.net. The class featured the #1-ranked freshman in the nation in Matthew Staton and a five-star player in Langdon Tingleaf.
He comes to the Academy from the IMG Academy in Florida, where he was the head tennis coach. His duties included working with junior tennis players ranked between 100-500 ITF and UTR 11 and higher. He also spent time working with professional players that came through IMG.
Prior to his time at IMG, Castro traveled and coached on the ATP tour. Castro has also worked with the USTA, where he traveled with several American professional tennis players.
Castro has also coached in the collegiate ranks, with stints as an assistant at Pacific and volunteer assistant at Auburn and Fresno State.
A Fresno, Calif., native and graduate of Fresno State, Castro has a degree in kinesiology and emphasis in coaching. Castro began his coaching career at 360 tennis Academy in Fresno, Calif., working alongside Brad Stine, who is currently the coach for Top 15 ATP ranked pro tennis player Tommy Paul.
Castro is married to his wife, Carissa. They have a dog named Mackey. He also has five sisters.
