All Air Force Academy home and away intercollegiate athletic events will be held as scheduled during the government shutdown. Funding for these events, along with travel/logistical support will be provided by the Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation (AFAAC). HIGH SCHOOL: East Leyden High School...two-time state qualifier in track...finished 11th in the 800-meter run at the Illinois 3A state championships...all-state selection...tri-state meet champion...served as team captain for six seasons...created a Student Voice website, which featured student-created polls that led to changes in the school... ranked fifth out of 400+ students in graduating class...state scholar...AP Scholar, with honors. PERSONAL: Full first name is Mateusz, but goes by Mati...nickname is "Advil"...son of Bartosz and Anna Szelazek...has a twin sister...also has one younger sibling...majoring in chemistry...future plans include becoming an F-22 pilot...hobbies include downhill skiing, reading, video editing, biking, pc builds and hiking...favorite place to relax is the Chicago Botanical Gardens...would like to add that "I couldn't have made it this far without the support and training from my high school coaches -- Coach Henning, Coach Cartwright and Coach Pygman"...member of Cadet Squadron 03.
