Erin Mills-Reid enters her sixth season at Air Force, second as an associate head coach, in the 2020-21 season.
In the 2019-2020 season, Mills-Reid helped the women’s basketball team to new heights as the Falcons finished 10-21 (7-11 MWC). These win totals marked the program’s most single-season conference wins since Air Force joined the league in 1999-2000 and most overall wins since the 2007-2008 season. Air Force’s seventh-place finish in the league tied its best-ever finish in the MWC and is the best-ever finish since the MWC became an 11-team league. Under Mills-Reid’s guidance, the Falcons averaged a program-best 60.7 points per game in league play, marking the team’s best conference scoring average since joining the MWC. Air Force also ranked as high as 11th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game and as high as 25th in the nation in steals.
Much of the Falcons’ success started on the recruiting trail. As Air Force’s recruiting coordinator, Mills-Reid spearheaded the efforts that resulted in having three Mountain West top-three recruiting classes. Included in those classes are multiple Top 200 & 300 nationally ranked players. This has resulted in the Air Force Women’s Basketball program winning as many MW conference games in her 5 years as the previous 16 combined.
The Falcons’ Kaelin Immel, who Mills-Reid recruited and worked with extensively, was tabbed Mountain West All-Conference, becoming the first Falcon to receive the honors since 2013. Air Force’s historic season was also highlighted by knocking off regular-season champions, Fresno State, at USAFA. The Bulldogs, who were undefeated in conference (15-0) at the time of the loss, had never lost to Air Force before. Mills-Reid also helped guide Air Force to its first-ever win in New Mexico’s “The Pit”, snapping a 22-game losing streak at New Mexico, as well as the squad’s first-ever win against Nevada in Reno, snapping an eight-game losing streak at Nevada.
In the 2017-18 campaign, Mills-Reid helped guide Immel to Air Force's first-ever Mountain West Freshman of the Year award. The guard was the leading freshman scorer in the conference at 14.8 points per game overall and 16.0 in MW play. Immel set the record for scoring in Air Force's Div. I era and the all-time freshman record in single-season scoring. In 2016-17, then-freshman Mariah Forde led all Mountain West freshmen in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game.
Mills-Reid continued to have success in the 2018-19 season, helping lead a team that averaged 60.1 points per game in regular season and Mountain West play alike, an average mark 4.4 points more than last season's averages and 12.7 more points per game than in their inaugural campaign. She helped a young Falcon squad check the boxes on numerous milestones to include the team's first win against Army in over a decade and ending a 13-game losing streak to in-state rivals Colorado State. Under their guidance, freshman standout Riley Snyder, who averaged 10 points per game on the season, was added to the Mountain West All-Freshman team. She is the third freshman since the 2017-18 season to earn the honor.
Prior to her season at Cincinnati, Mills-Reid spent five seasons at Army West Point as an assistant women's basketball coach and associate recruiting coordinator.
Following a Patriot League Tournament Championship, the Black Knights reached the NCAA tournament for just the second time as a Division I program in 2013-14, earning the 13th seed. Under Mills-Reid's tutelage, guard Kelsey Minato was named 2014 Patriot League Player of the Year and Patriot League Tournament MVP.
The Black Knights' long-range shooters had the most successful season in school history under Mills-Reid's watch in 2013-14, draining a record 212 three-pointers and shooting 37.2 percent.
The Black Knight backcourt saw similar success the year prior, as a pair of guards brought home first-team All-Patriot League honors during the 2012-13 regular-season championship campaign. It marked the first time in program history Army West Point earned multiple first-team nods.
Senior Anna Simmers was a unanimous selection while Minato earned a spot on the five-person squad while also making conference history by being tabbed both the Player and Rookie of the Year.
Mills-Reid was also instrumental in co-founding an Assistant Coaches Council at Army West Point, designed to improve the morale, function and work environment for all assistant coaches and support staff at Army West Point. The group focused on formulating ides to enhance the professional development of all members.
Mills-Reid also handled responsibilities in recruiting, budget management, travel coordination and scheduling. Additionally, Mills-Reid focused efforts in compliance and served as the liaison for the women's basketball program with both academics and the equipment room.
Prior to her time at West Point, Mills-Reid spent two years as the top assistant at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey, and at Mercyhurst College for the 2006-2007 season.
A four-year letterwinner on the hardwood for Farleigh Dickenson, Mills-Reid was the designated captain for the 2004-05 season during which time she led the Knights in assists. She also played two seasons at center fielder for the Knights' softball team.
Mills-Reid graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and earned a Master of Arts in education for Certified Teachers one year later. A standout inside the classroom, Mills-Reid was a Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete in all eight semesters of her playing career, making the dean's list and graduated magna cum laude.
Mills-Reid is married to Blake Reid, Key Account Manager for Riddell, and resides in Monument, Colorado, with their sons, Hayden and Carter.
