Ben Nilson has been actively involved in the sport of gymnastics since the age of five. His experience includes over 20 years of coaching, announcing and commentating for NCAA meets, and also judging for both USA Gymnastics and Amerikids.

Nilson is from Logan, UT and graduated from Utah State University in 2006. While a student at USU, Nilson developed a passion for collegiate gymnastics and coached there for four years, two as Undergraduate Assistant Coach and two as Assistant Coach. While at Utah State the Aggies won the Western Athletic Conference Gymnastics Championship (2005), qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament twice (2005, 2007), and had individual qualifiers at NCAA Regionals the other two seasons.

Nilson’s events at USU (bars and vault) were the two highest-scoring events those years with RQS averaging between 48.5 and 48.95. During the years Nilson had been absent from college gymnastics coaching he continued coaching at the club level and has coached multiple athletes who went on to college gymnastics as well as a USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic National Championship medalist. Nilson is primarily over Vault and Floor Exercise for the Falcons for the 2018-2019 season.
