USAF, Colo. (Oct. 27) -- The Air Force volleyball team suffered another disappointing loss, falling to San Diego State 3-0 (15-3, 15-9, 15-9) Friday. The loss drops the Falcons to 6-15 overall and 0-9 in the Mountain West.
The Aztecs got off to a quick start, winning the first game 15-3. The team finished the game with nine blocks and a solid .542 hitting percentage. The Falcons played stronger in games two and three, but they could not overcome the Aztecs' distinct height advantage.
Ana-Marie Ortega had another solid outing for the Falcons, hitting .214 with 12 kills and eight digs. Delavane Diaz had 10 kills and four digs for Air Force.
The Aztecs (14-11, 6-4) were led by Nicole Akporiaye who finished the game with 13 kills. Katie Manuson finished the match with 14 digs, while setter Melissa Wright had 41 assists.
The Falcons look to earn their first conference win Saturday (Oct. 28) when the team hosts UNLV. The Rebels have won just two matches this season, including a victory over the Falcons in September in Las Vegas. Match time is 7 p.m.
