Women's Basketball Team Falls to TCU, 71-48

The Air Force women's basketball team lost its home opener to Texas Christian, 71-48. It was the second consecutive loss to a team who qualified for the 2000-01 NCAA tournament, as the team opened the season with a loss to Denver.
The Falcons played even with the Horned Frogs for much of the first half. Kaelin Blunt nailed a three pointer with five minutes to play in the half to tie the score at 21 apiece. TCU then took control and closed out the half on a 13-0 run. They scored the first seven points of the second half to take a commanding 19-point lead.
Air Force finished the game 13-for-50 from the field for a shooting percentage of .260. Samantha Clifton led the team in scoring with nine points. Amoy Jackson and Brooke Bauer each had career-high eight rebounds. The Falcons committed 22 turnovers and had eight steals.
TCU was led by Kati Safaritova, who had 13 points. Sandora Irvin and Niki Newton each added 10 points for the Frogs, who finished the game with a .390 shooting percentage.
The Falcons opened the season 0-2 for just the first time since 1996 and just the second time in the team's history. The will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 24, when they play Illinois-Chicago in the opening round of Illinois' Thanksgiving Tournament. They will face either Brown or Alcorn State on Sunday, Nov. 25.
