USAF, Colo. - New Mexico's Jordan Adams scored 17 points to lead the Lobos to a 64-43 victory over the Air Force women's basketball team. The game was the Falcons' first in league play, and the loss snapped a two-game winning streak.
The Lobos opened a nine-point lead and never looked back. They led 26-15 at the 5:40 mark of the first half and never relinquished the double-digit lead. The Falcons cut a 22-point deficit in half midway through the second half, but the height and athleticism of New Mexico was too much in the end.
Latoya Howell notched a career-high 13 points to lead Air Force in scoring. She also had two steals and four assists in the game. Samantha Clifton had six rebounds to lead the team on the boards. The Falcons were 15-of-43 from the field, shooting .349 percent. They continued to struggle from beyond the arc, connecting on just one three-pointer in 11 attempts. The 43-points scored was the team's lowest scoring output of the season.
The Lobos had three players in double figures, with Adams scoring 17, Mandi Moore scoring 12 points on four treys and Melissa Forest with 11 points. Chelsea Grear had 11 rebounds.
Air Force (4-10, 0-1 MWC) will continue its five-game home stand with a game against Utah on Thursday, Jan. 17, followed by a game on Saturday, Jan. 19. Thursday's game tips at 7 p.m., while the Saturday's game is set for noon.
