Falcons Fall to Utah, 67-39

USAF, Colo. - Four Utah players scored in double figures, as the Utes knocked off Air Force 67-39 in women's basketball. It was the lowest scoring output of the year for the Falcons, who fall to 4-11 overall and 0-2 in the Mountain West.
Utah used a 12-0 run very early in the game to secure a 14-2 lead. Later in the first half, the Utes had a 17-2 run to extend its lead to 21 points. The Falcons would chip away at the deficit, but they would never get closer than 12 points.
Latoya Howell scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed six steals in the loss. Samantha Clifton added seven points, while Rozalyn Russ had five rebounds to lead the team on the boards. The Utes' stifling defense held the Falcons to 14-of-54 (.259%) shooting from the field. Air Force knocked in just three three-pointers on 21 attempts (.143). The team had a season low five assists and committed 20 turnovers.
Erin Gibbons led the Utes with 16 points. Lindsay Herbert had 14 points, while Katherine McColl chipped in 12. Lauren Beckman notched a double-double with 10 rebounds and 12 points. She also had five blocks for the Utes.
Air Force will continue its five-game home stand with a game against BYU on Saturday, Jan. 19. The game tips at noon.
