Air Force Loses to BYU, 81-52

The Air Force women's basketball team suffered an 81-52 loss to BYU Saturday at Clune Arena. The high-powered Cougars' offense shot 57 percent from beyond the arc, connecting on 15-of-26 three-point attempts.
The Falcons battled for the first 13 minutes, staying within five points of the lead. BYU slowly pulled away, shooting the lights out from the field. Erin Thorn finished with 23 points and Heather Cheesman had a season-high 22 points for the Cougars. Cheesman was 8-of-8 from the field, including six three-pointers. All seven of Thorn's baskets were from beyond the arc.
Amoy Jackson had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Falcons in both categories. Latoya Howell added 10 points and Wendy Stillman had eight points. The Falcons shot just 31 percent (14-of-44) from the field. They did a solid job on the boards, grabbing 29 rebounds to BYU's 30. The team combined for a costly 25 turnovers. BYU's 81 points was the most surrendered by the Falcons this season.
Air Force (4-12, 0-3) will be on the road next week. Thursday, Jan. 24, the team plays UNLV, while on Saturday, Jan. 26, the team will take on San Diego State.
