Air Force Falls to UNLV, 75-50

LAS VEGAS - (Jan. 25) All-American candidate Linda Frohlich scored 37 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Rebels, as UNLV handed the Air Force women's basketball team its fourth consecutive conference loss. The Falcons remained winless in the conference, falling to UNLV 75-50 at the Thomas and Mack Center on Thursday night.
Air Force struggled early, falling behind 13-0 in the game's first four minutes. Kaelin Blunt scored five consecutive points to end the scoring drought as the Falcons began to chip away at the deficit. By the end of the half, Air Force had cut the lead to six points. The Falcons could have cut into the lead even further, but they had trouble holding onto the ball, committing 16 costly turnovers in the half.
The Rebels opened the second half with five straight, and the Falcons would never get closer than seven points of the lead. Air Force finished the game shooting 16-of-49 (.327 percent) from the field. Blunt led the led the Falcons in scoring with a career-high 11 points, while Latoya Howell added 10 points, Amoy Jackson scored nine and Wendy Stillman had eight. Amoy Jackson had a team-high five rebounds. Air Force had 11 steals and 27 turnovers.
Frohlich's 37 points were a season high, as the conference scoring and rebounding leader notched her 12th double-double of the season. Constance Jinks added 12 points, while Petra Glaser had 11.
Air Force (4-13, 0-4 MWC) will next face San Diego State on Saturday, Jan. 26, in the second game of a two-game road trip.
