FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Joel Gerlach scored 19 points and Air Force went 9-for-20 from the 3-point line as the Falcons survived a late Northern Arizona rally Wednesday night and held on for a 57-56 win.
Air Force, which beat Liberty in its last away game, won consecutive road games for the first time since 1989. Lamoni Yazzie, who played high school basketball at nearby Tuba City Greyhills, scored 15 points for the Falcons (6-6).
Air Force trailed 23-20 at halftime before scoring the first eight points of the second half.
Northern Arizona (7-5) had cut a 44-35 Air Force lead to four points with a 5-0 run before Falcons forward Tom Bellairs hit a 25-foot 3-pointer as the shot clock expired to put the Falcons ahead 47-40.
Northern Arizona made a late rally, but the Lumberjacks ran out of time. They cut the lead to 57-56 with less than a second to play on Kody Yazzie's 3-pointer, but Air Force inbounded the ball and time expired.
Kody Yazzie led the Lumberjacks with 17 points and five rebounds. Each team had 24 turnovers. The loss broke an eight-game home winning streak for Northern Arizona.
