USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Brian Boyle has been named an assistant coach for Air Force men's basketball for the 2026-27 season, announced today by head coach Joe Crispin. The addition of Boyle completes Crispin's first coaching staff at the Academy.
Boyle comes to the Academy after over a decade in the NBA and NBA G League, most recently with the Greensboro Swarm, the 2026 NBA G League Champions.
"I am excited to welcome Brian Boyle and his wife, Jesse, to the Academy," Crispin said. "Brian loves the game and is dedicated to helping young men maximize their potential on and off the court. His experience is unique and he will help us fulfill our mission to play a style of basketball that is fast, fearless, and free."
Boyle spent the last two seasons with the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets as an assistant coach, specializing in offensive strategy and implementation, player development and game preparation. In 2026, Boyle handled offensive coordinator duties, leading the Swarm to the top ranked offense in the league en-route to the G League Championship.
From 2021-24, he was with The Motor City Cruise, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons. Boyle assisted with daily game and practice plans, offensive and defensive implementation and player development. He also worked in conjunction with the Pistons front office, executing their off-season player development programs, draft workouts, and assisting on the Summer League team. Boyle worked with a pair of players (Stanley Umude and Tosan Evbuomwan), which earned call-ups to the Pistons.
Boyle was with the Agua Caliente Clippers (now the San Diego Clippers), the affiliate of the Los Angeles Clippers from 2018-20. His primary responsibility entailed daily player development and opponent scouting report prep. In addition, he worked with the L.A. Clippers front-office and coaching staff's about development action plans for assignment players and two-way players.
The 2017-18 season saw Boyle in his first stint with Greensboro as an assistant, focusing on player development and opponent scouting.
Boyle worked with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2016-17 as a video associate. He worked with head coach Brett Brown and his staff in assisting in scouting functions, with a focus on video editing and personnel reports.
Boyle also worked with the Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets across the 2014-16 seasons. He was a regional advance scout for the Hawks and Warriors in 2015-16 and spent a season with the Nuggets, from 2014-15 in the video room.
Boyle's coaching career began in 2013-14 as a graduate manager at LaSalle University.
As an athlete, Boyle earned six letters across basketball and golf at University of the Sciences (Philadelphia, Pa.). Boyle lettered four years (2009-13) in basketball and two years in golf, participating in the CACC Championships in the spring of 2013.
