Falcons Fall To BYU In Conference Opener

U.S.A.F.A., Colo.- The Falcons fell 5-1 in their conference opener against BYU Thursday afternoon at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. Senior Mary Cholko scored the only Air Force goal three minutes into the first half as the Cougar defense managed to shut down the Falcons for the remainder of the game.
The first BYU goal came in the 13th minute when junior Annie Hoecherl converted a corner given by junior Aleisha Cramer Rose. Senior Jeni Viernes scored less than a minute later with an assist from junior Jennifer Henry Fielding.
BYU outshot Air Force 17-2 in the first period and 12-4 in the second. In goal, junior Jennifer Monson had 11 saves for the Falcons and sophomore Amanda Gott had four.
Air Force continues its weekend of conference action Saturday morning at 10 a.m. when it faces Utah at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons are now 5-8 this season and 0-1 in conference play.
