Falcons Take On Denver, Illinois, Western Michigan

U.S.A.F. ACADEMY, Colo.- The Air Force women's gymnastics team returns to Denver to take on the no. 11 Pioneers, Illinois and Western Michigan Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Hamilton Gymnasium.
The Falcons are coming off a second-place finish Monday evening in a meet with Denver, who took first with a team score of 195.850. Air Force finished with a 191.600, followed by Alaska-Anchorage (185.150), and Winona State (183.075). In the all-around, Denver's Emily Bankhead took first with a score of 39.425, followed by teammate Michelle Kasuga with a 39.200. Air Force senior team captain Allison Todd finished third with a 39.125 to tie the AFA school record. Falcon sophomore Jessa Liegl took fourth with a 38.925, followed by teammates freshman Lauren Robison (37.975) and junior Laura Frank (37.350).
Denver's Ashley Shible tied for first on vault with fellow Pioneer Karyssa Ancellotti. Todd was the top finisher on vault for the Falcons with a 9.650 for seventh behind Alaska's Mandi Burdick (9.675) and a three-way tie for third between Denver teammates Cassidy Willingham, Jessica Kennedy and Emily Bankhead who each scored a 9.750.
Denver secured the top four spots on bars with Shible (9.925), Bankhead (9.900), Kasuga (9.850), and Rose Kiernan (9.775) finishing first, second, third, and fourth respectively. Air Force's Liegl tied for fifth with Denver's Jessica Kennedy (9.750), followed by Falcon team captain Todd (9.700).
Kiernan won on beam with a 9.900, followed by a four-way tie for second between Denver's Bankhead and Kasuga, and Air Force's Tood and Frank with a 9.875. Pioneer Jamie Martini finished sixth followed by Liegl who scored a 9.800.
Bankhead and Todd tied for first on floor, each scoring an impressive 9.900 for the top spot. Kasuga finished third for Denver (9.875) followed by a tie for fourth between Liegl and Denver's Jacquelin Young (9.775). Burdick finished seventh for Alaska.
