Falcons Fall Against Army, 210.150-205.775

U.S.A.F. Academy, Colo.- The Air Force men's gymnastics team fell in a dual meet Friday evening with ninth-ranked Army, 210.150-205.775. The Falcons took second against Army earlier this season at the All-Academy Championships. The Black Knights finished first (206.850) followed by Air Force (196.500) and Navy (195.475).
Junior Jeff Andersen took first in the all-around for Air Force with a score of 52.150, followed by Falcon senior team captain Aaron Jackson with a 51.700. Senior Bill Hermann finished fifth for Air Force (49.550) behind Army's Nate Whitten (51.625) and Dustin Greenhill (50.575). Mike Tiffany rounded out the top six for Army with a score of 43.400.
On floor, Army's John Robella took the top honors with a 9.300, followed by teammate Dustin Greenhill (9.100). Jackson took third for the Falcons (9.050) while Andersen tied for sixth with Army's Mike Tiffany (8.800).
Ashan McNeally finished first on pommel horse for Army with a score of 8.950. Teammates Chris Kennedy and Whitten followed with an 8.800 and an 8.750 respectively. Andersen finished fourth for the Falcons (8.350) followed Jackson who tied for fifth with Army's Cory Morin (7.900).
Freshman Greg Stine took first on rings for Air Force with a 9.450, followed by Jackson (9.300) and Andersen (9.275). Falcon Julian Benton finished sixth (8.950). On vault, Robella finished first for Army (9.100), followed by Andersen with a 9.025 and Jackson (9.000). Sophomore Patrick McAndrew tied for sixth on vault with an 8.875.
Andersen tied on parallel bars for third with Army's Cory Morin with a score of 8.550. Jackson finished fifth (8.500) and Hermann tied for sixth with Whitten (8.450). Air Force's top finisher on high bar was freshman Eric Peele who tied for fourth with an 8.250.
Air Force returns to action Sunday afternoon in a coed meet where the Falcon men host Stanford and the AFA women host Ball State. The meet begins at 1 p.m. in the cadet Gymnasium's West Gym.
