Journal #3 - Goteborg, Sweden

The Air Force men's basketball team is currently on a 12-day trip to Denmark and Sweden. The team will play six games during the trip against professional basketball teams from the Scandinavian countries. Senior co-captain A.J. Kuhle will provide journals throughout the trip. This is Journal #3.
Wednesday, August 6 -
After the game (defeated Horsholm, 69-48), most of us had McDonald's for dinner, then to Mello Yellow's to people watch until the club scene got going. It picked up quick as we had to play the "American Basketball Team" card to get in to the nightclub we wanted to. It was a good thing because it was a great club with five different dance floors. Once again, it was a late night.
Thursday, August 7 -
The day was wide open so we hung around the hotel, then hit the streets of Malmo for some shopping before our pregame meal at 2:30 p.m. After the meal was our daily nap, then off to the game. We played Malbas, the team we beat on Tuesday, but they added a few players for this game. The result wasn't too much different as we won the game, 65-41. The game was a little sloppy since it was our fourth game in four nights, but we played OK.
After the game we had our last nice meal in Malmo. It was great, which most of our meals have been. It was back to Mello Yellow's then to the hot spot of the evening, Harry's, for Salsa Night. Although none of us really knew how to Salsa, it was neat because if you were willing to try, you had a dance partner. I'm sure we will all be taking Salsa lessons when we get home.
Friday, August 8 -
After breakfast at the hotel, we loaded the bus for a 3-hour ride to Goteborg, Sweden. The trip was filled with beautiful countryside farms as well as many lakes and rolling hills. When we arrived in Goteborg, we drove right by a huge stadium next to our hotel. We went right to pregame meal in anticipation of our fifth game in five nights. We had a 45-minute drive through some beautiful forest to our game against Hogsbo. They are in a lower division than the teams we have played and we beat then pretty handily, 85-32. It was a good opponent for our fifth game.
We had a team dinner at The Dubliner along the main pedestrian street in Goteborg called "The Avenyn". There were so many people on the street just hanging out and walking around. After dinner we walked along the Avenyn for a few hours then found an outside club that was playing Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and other '80s music. We stayed for awhile before heading back to the hotel for some much needed sleep.
Saturday, August 9 -
Today was our first day off in six days and we were all thrilled. Our bodies needed the rest from the court. Most of us hit the weight room after breakfast, then a nap and off to the local malls for some shopping. Everyone is looking forward to going to the Liseberg Amusement Park tonight, the largest amusement park in Scandinavia.
