SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Air Force men's gymnastics team split a tri-meet with Springfield College and Navy on Sunday, Feb. 29, in Springfield, Mass. Posting their third consecutive team score of over 200, the Falcons registered a 203.150 to finish ahead of the host Pride (201.700), while narrowly falling to the Midshipmen (204.425). It is the first victory for Air Force since defeating the club teams of Arizona State and Washington at the Rocky Mountain Open.
Sophomore Greg Stine (Houston, Texas) led the Falcons, winning two individual events, en route to claiming the all-around title. Stine won the floor exercise and vault with matching scores of 9.000. Both marks are the second-highest scores by an individual this season - trailing season-best marks that Stine already holds.
His winning all-around score of 52.650 matches the best combined events score of the season - which Stine set two competitions ago at the All-Academy Championships.
The Falcons return home next weekend, when they host Illinois-Chicago on Friday (March 5) at 7:30 p.m. in the Cadet West Gymnasium. Air Force remains at home on Sunday (March 7), when they join UIC and California for a tri-meet at 1 p.m.
