Jeff Andersen Concludes Competition At Winter Cup

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Air Force senior Jeff Andersen (Marietta, Ga.) completed competition at the annual Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday, Feb. 7. The 2004 Winter Cup featured nearly 100 of the nation's top gymnasts, all of whom were competing for the chance to be named to the U.S. National Team.
Andersen was the Academy's first gymnast to be invited to the Winter Cup since All-American Joel Miller in 1992.
The senior co-captain finished 75th at the meet, garnering a four-event score of 32.800. Andersen's highest finish of the night came on the still rings, where he scored an 8.800 to finish in a tie for 26th-place. He also earned an 8.400 on the parallel bars to finish tied for 30th. Also contributing to his final placing was an 8.200 on the pommel horse (50-tie) and a 7.400 on the high bar (67).
The Falcons return to action as team on Saturday, Feb. 14, when they travel to Houston, Texas, to take on service academy rivals, Army and Navy.
