For the first time in six years under head coach Fred Acee, the Air Force men's lacrosse team is ranked in the top 20 of the national polls. The Falcons are ranked 14th by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and 18th in the nation by Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
Air Force notched a major upset on Saturday (Feb. 28) when the team defeated the defending national champion Virginia 7-6 at the Pioneer Face Off Classic in Denver. Virginia was ranked first in the polls. The Falcons defeated Vermont 8-4 in the second game of the tournament.
Acee called the victory over Virginia the "greatest in team history." The Falcons had never before defeated a top five team.
The Falcons will look to notch their first-ever win over Army this weekend when they head to West Point to take on the Black Knights on Saturday, March 6th.
