Falcons Prep For MPSF Championships

The Air Force women's gymnastics team will travel to San Jose, Calif., to take on conference foes at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships on Saturday, March 20. The meet, which begins at 6 p.m., will take place at Spartan Gymnasium on the campus of San Jose State University.
Air Force is currently ranked third in the league with a regional qualifying score (RQS) of 192.840. San Jose State leads the MPSF with an RQS of 194.000, while Sacramento State is ranked second with a score of 193.680. Seattle Pacific is fourth (192.400), while UC-Davis and Alaska-Anchorage round out the competition with respective marks of 191.445 and 190.415.
The Falcons recorded the second-highest score in the conference this season, when they scored a 195.675 on March 9 against Rhode Island. They are just .200 off of Sacramento State's high score of 195.875.
The Falcons will be led by three-time MPSF Gymnast of the Week Jessa Liegl (Lincoln, Neb.). The junior leads the conference outright on the vault (RQS-9.845) and in the all-around (39.090). She is tied with Air Force senior Erin Maguire (Pocatello, Idaho) for the conference lead on the balance beam (9.830. Liegl also ranks second on the floor exercise with a score of 9.865 - just .005 off of the conference lead.
