Four Falcons Earn MPSF All-Conference Honors

WOODLAND, Calif. - Four members of the Air Force women's gymnastics team were named to the 2004 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Conference Team, the league announced today (March 26).
Senior Erin Maguire (Pocatello, Idaho) and junior Jessa Liegl (Lincoln, Neb.) were named to the first-team. They also received event honors on the second-team, joining senior Rebecca Lewis (Plano, Texas) and sophomore Lauren Robison (Garner, N.C.).
The all-conference selections are determined by the top two Regional Qualifying Scores (RQS) per team.
Liegl led the Falcons with four first-team honors. She registered a RQS of 9.845 on the vault - the highest score in the conference. Liegl also posted a 9.800 on the uneven bars (fourth in the conference) and a 9.865 on the floor (tied for sixth in the MPSF). Liegl led the league in the all-around, posting a combined events RQS of 39.090 for first-team honors. Liegl was named to the second team on the balance beam, with a regional qualifying score of 9.835 -the top RQS in the conference.
Maguire recorded first-team rankings on the balance beam and on the floor exercise. She recorded a score of 9.830 on the beam, which is the second-best RQS in the league, and tied with Liegl for a first-team ranking on the floor with a score of 9.880. She also earned second-team honors on the vault (9.805), after posting the third-best mark in the conference.
Lewis recorded second-team honors on the uneven bars, with her regional qualifying score of 9.640, while Robison was named to the second-team in the all-around, with an RQS of 38.470.
Liegl, Lewis and Robison will compete next weekend (April 3) at the NCAA Regional Championships, in Denver, Colo. Maguire is currently the top alternate in the all-around, as well as on the beam and floor. Competition is slated to begin at 6 p.m., in Magness Arena on the campus of the University of Denver.
