The Air Force men's lacrosse team heads to West Point Saturday (March 6) to take on service academy rival. The Falcons are 2-0 and off to their best start ever under head coach Fred Acee. They are ranked as high as 14th in the nation.
The Falcons are playing well, but will be tested against a solid Army team. Air Force has never defeated the Black Knights, going winless in nine games. They hope that streak ends on Saturday, as the team is playing with momentum after defeating the defending national champions in their first weekend.
"We have a little momentum after winning two games to start the season, but it's always tough to play on the road and Army is a good team," head coach Fred Acee said. "We will need to stay focused and follow our game plan if we hope to come home with the victory.
The Falcons have not lost this season, defeating No. 1 Virginia (7-6) and Vermont (8-4) in the team's first weekend of play. William Keleher leads the team in goals scored with four, while Greg Dangler, the team's point leader each of the last two seasons, has a team-high six points.
Air Force hopes to avenge an 8-7 double overtime loss to Army last season. They had chances to win the game in the first overtime, but failed to capitalize on several open shots and man up opportunities. They will kick off their home season next week when they host another perennial powerhouse in North Carolina on Thursday, March 11th.
