Air Force head coach Chris Mooney announced recently that Kevin McGeehan has joined the men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach. McGeehan's hire completes the Air Force coaching staff for the 2004-05 season.
McGeehan comes to the Academy from Springfield High School in Springfield, Pa., where he was the boys basketball coach for the past two seasons.
The Philadelphia native coached with Mooney at Lansdale Catholic High School and Beaver College in Glenside, Pa. After Mooney left Beaver College to come to Air Force, McGeehan took over the head coaching duties for two years before moving to Springfield High School.
A 1995 graduate of Gettysburg College, the 31-year-old McGeehan was the captain of the men's basketball team his senior season. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology and then earned a master's degree in education with a concentration on higher education/secondary education from West Chester University in 1999.
"Kevin is a great addition to our staff," Mooney said. "He ran our system at Gettysburg and is very familiar with it. He is extremely intelligent and has a great feel for the game."
McGeehan, who recently married Melissa Morrisson, will begin his duties on June 4.
