USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Tanner Massey has been named an assistant coach for Air Force men's basketball for the 2026-27 season, announced today by head coach Joe Crispin.
Massey comes to the Academy with nearly two decades of experience in the NBA G League, FIBA, NCAA, NAIA, and the high school level. Last season, he was an assistant coach at St. Francis University.
"I am excited to welcome Tanner and his family to Air Force," Crispin said. "He brings a wealth and diversity of experience that will serve our cadets and program well! I am confident he will help us fly, fight, and win!"
At St. Francis, Massey was heavily involved in offensive game-planning. Under his tutelage, the Red Flash led the Northeast Conference (NEC) in scoring and three's made in 2025-26.
Prior to his stint at St. Francis, he was the head coach at Atlantic Collegiate Academy High School in South Carolina, leading the team to a South Carolina State title with a 24-3 overall record and an 11-1 conference mark.
Before his position in South Carolina, Massey served as the associate head coach at Goldey-Beacom, an NCAA Division II program for the 2023-24 season. He helped the team finish third in the league, while ranking first in three-point percentage and third in scoring average.
Massey worked in the NBA G League for seven seasons, with stints at Erie (2014-17), Northern Arizona (2017-18 and 2019-20) and Capital City (2018-19).
During his time in the G League, Massey worked with players that went on to the NBA through the G League in Gary Payton, Jr. (Golden State), Justin Wright Foreman (Utah), Tyler Lydon (Denver), Okaro White (Miami), Archie Goodwin (Brooklyn), Kalin Lucas (Detroit), Stephen Zimmerman (Orlando) and Anthony Brown (Orlando).
In addition to his experience in the G League and the college ranks, Massey has also worked with the Saskatchewan Rattlers (CEBL, summers 2022-2023) and B.C. Nokia (Korisliiga, 2022-23), Syrian National Team (2021), Fraser Valley Bandits (CEBL, 2021), Hiroshima (Japanese B-League, 2017), and Union College (NAIA, 2013-14).
