PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The Air Force men's gymnastics team improved on last week's opening performance to take fourth at the Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., on Saturday, Jan. 22. The team bettered their overall score by nearly a point to score a 185.600.
In the scoring of collegiate teams only, Air Force was third, finishing behind California (215.625) and host Stanford (213.525). An All-Star Team (204.025) and a Washington club team (179.475) also competed, but their finishes do not count in the Falcons' overall record.
Junior Eric Peele (Bethel, N.C.) was the team's top finisher, placing ninth in the all-around with a score of 46.150. Contributing to his career-best all-around score, Peele collected a top-20 finish on the pommel horse with a score of 7.550. His best score of the night came on the floor exercise, where he garnered an 8.300.
Senior Kent Reichle (Cambridge, Mass.) had one of the top individual event finishes of the night, placing 14th on the parallel bars with a score of 8.150. Freshman Tyler Sickles (Mesa, Ariz.) also collected a 14th-place finish; his coming on the floor exercise with an 8.550.
Sickles' score on the floor was the best on that event for the Falcons, while Reichle posted the best parallel bars score at 8.150. Peele added the team's top high bar score (7.900), while sophomore Kurt Antonio (Rio Rancho, N.M.) posted the teams top marks on the pommel horse (7.550) and still rings (7.650).

It is the second meeting between the Air Force and Oklahoma in three weeks, as the two squads met in the season-opening Rocky Mountain Open. The meet is slated to begin at 7 p.m., in the Lloyd-Noble Center.
