Falcons Fall to Illinois-Chicago and Arizona State

Chicago, Ill. - Posting a team score of 194.950, the Air Force men's gymnastics team finished third in its regular season finale with Illinois-Chicago and Arizona State on Sunday, March 20, in the Windy City. Host UIC won the tri-meet with a score of 213.550, while ASU took second with 203.225.
Sophomore Ryan Stromstad (Corona, Calif.) had the team's top finish -- placing third on the floor exercise with a 9.150. Classmate Edwin Berry (El Cajon, Calif.) led the squad on the pommel horse with a ninth-place finish of 7.500. Fellow sophomore Kurt Antonio (Rio Rancho, N.M.) and freshman Nathan Glandon (Abilene, Texas) posted matching scores of 7.850 to tie for 10th on the still rings.
First-year gymnast Brian Boardman (Naperville, Ill.) tied for 11th on the vault with an 8.650, while junior Eric Peele (Bethel, N.C.) scored an 8.500 on the parallel bars to tie for fifth. Freshman Tyler Sickles (Mesa, Ariz.) rounded out the Falcons' event leaders -- scoring an 8.400 on the high bar to finish fourth.
The Falcons head to Norman, Okla., next weekend (March 25-26) for the 2005 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
