Boardman and Sickles Earn Top-Three Finishes

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- Sophomores Brian Boardman and Tyler Sickles claimed third-place finishes on the parallel bars and high bar, respectively, as the Air Force men's gymnastics team dropped a 197.450-180.500 dual-meet decision to Illinois-Chicago on Friday, March 10, at the Academy. The meet marked the first time that the Falcons have competed at home since the season-opening Rocky Mountain Open in early January.
Boardman posted a 7.750 on the parallel bars to finish third, while Sickles scored an 8.300 on the high bar to earn the same placing.
Sickles also notched the Falcons' second-best finish on the parallel bars, claiming a 7.650 to finish fourth, while senior Brian Moore scored a 7.500 to take a tie for fifth. Classmate Jon Roberts picked up a fifth-place mark on the high bar after scoring an 8.150.
Boardman also scored a 7.850 to lead the Falcons on the floor exercise. His sixth-place finish was followed closely by junior Kurt Antonio, who tallied a 7.800 to place sixth.
Moore posted the team's highest finish of the night, placing fourth on the pommel horse with a score of 6.900. Freshman Christopher Deans picked up a top-five mark on the pommel, as well, collecting a 6.850 to finish fifth. Classmate Andrew Terrell and Antonio also garnered top-five finishes, after tying for fifth on the still rings with matching scores of 7.650.
A trio of Falcons - Moore, Boardman and junior Edwin Berry - scored marks of 8.300 on the vault to tie for seventh.
Air Force concludes its weekend of dual meet action with Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, March 12, when the two programs face off at 1 p.m., in the Cadet West Gym. Prior to the competition, Air Force will honor its two senior gymnasts -- Moore and Eric Peele.
