TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Air Force men's gymnastics team dropped a 181.650-177.900 decision to Arizona State during Southwest Cup action on Sunday (March 5) afternoon. The Falcons posted a higher team score than the Sun Devils on the high bar (29.400), but ASU claimed the advantage on the other events en route to the victory.
Senior Brian Moore was the runner-up in the all-around, scoring a 44.650. He registered the team's top score on the floor exercise, collecting a 7.700. Sophomore Tyler Sickles also collected a pair of team-leading scores. He earned a 7.150 on the pommel horse to lead the team, while also posting an 8.000 on the high bar.
The remaining three events were led by three different Falcons. Junior Kurt Antonio had the team's top mark on the still rings after collecting a score of 7.700, while freshman Andrew Terrell topped the team on the vault with a score of 8.400. Senior Eric Peele, who made his season-debut after being sidelined with an injury, led the Falcons on the parallel bars with a mark of 7.700. In fact, Peele's score was the second-best mark of the night by either team.
After being on the road since Jan. 14, the Falcons finally return to the Academy for a weekend series with Illinois-Chicago. The Falcons will host the Flames on Friday, March 10 (at 7 p.m.), before returning to the Cadet West Gym on Sunday, March 12 (at 2 p.m.).
