Moore and Boardman Conclude Run at NCAA Championships

NORMAN, Okla. -- Senior Brian Moore and sophomore Brian Boardman concluded competition at the 2006 NCAA National Collegiate Gymnastics on Thursday, April 6 in Norman, Okla. Competing as individual specialists, the duo took part in the first session of the National Qualifier at the Lloyd-Noble Center on Oklahoma's campus.
Moore, competing in his final collegiate event, finished 13th in the all-around with a combined total of 42.550. Contributing to his score was a 7.500 on the floor, a 6.400 on the pommel horse, a 6.800 on the still rings, an 8.150 on the vault, a 7.350 on the parallel bars and a 6.350 on the high bar. Making his first appearance on the national stage, Boardman claimed a 7.650 on the parallel bars to tie with Springfield's Aric Hines for 35th on the event.
During the day's first session, Stanford, Penn State and Iowa advanced to the team finals which are slated for tomorrow night. Three more teams will join the finals following tonight's session of qualifying competition. In addition, the top three all-arounders not on an advancing team and the top three individual event specialists not on an advancing team or in the all-around will also advance.
