Air Force Falls To TCU, 87-61

USAFA, Colo. - Giving up 29 points at the free throw line, the Air Force women's basketball team fell to visiting TCU, 87-61, Thursday evening at Clune Arena. The Falcons drop to 4-10 on the season, 0-3 in the MWC, while the Lady Frogs, ranked 25th in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, improve to 13-4 overall, 3-0 in the league.
The Falcons led early, but the Lady Frogs took over after the first media timeout, going up 7-6. Air Force still trailed by a single digit at the 12:25 mark, but a 12-0 TCU run over the next five and a half minutes put the Falcons down by 13. The Frogs led by as many as 15 in the half before Air Force scored the last four points of the period to go into the locker room trailing 41-30.
Air Force cut their deficit back to single digits early in the second half, but TCU was able to pull away once more. The Frogs led by as many as 27 points, getting to the free throw line a total of 37 times in the game, while also outrebounding the Falcons, 47-32.
Junior Pamela Findlay (Glenview, Ill.) led Air Force with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Alecia Steele (Jr., Oklahoma City, Okla.) added 10 points. Meanwhile, senior Letricia Castillo (Anchorage, Alaska) became the Falcons' all-time leading scorer at the Division I level, finishing the game with nine points to bring her career total to 980.
Four different players scored in double-figures for TCU, led by Adrianne Ross with 18 points.
The Falcons get started with a three-game road swing this weekend, Jan. 14, when they travel to San Diego State. Tip-off for the game, which will be broadcast on the mtn, is slated for 2:00 p.m. (PT).
