USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Backed by strong all-around performances from junior Abigail Rogers and sophomore Kayla Kincade, the Blue Team defeated the Silver Team, 163.050-152.000, as the Air Force women's gymnastics team hosted its first-ever Blue and Silver Intrasquad Meet on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Academy's West Gym.
Rogers and Kincade tied for the all-around title with matching scores of 37.100. Contributing to Rogers' score was a winning score of 9.750 on the floor exercise, as well as second-place finishes on the vault (9.500) and balance beam (9.350). Kincade took individual event titles on the uneven bars (9.300) and balance beam (9.650).
Several of the newest members of the Air Force squad also helped contribute to the Blue Team's victory. Freshman Annette Ehrman posted a third-place finish on the balance beam with a tally of 9.100, while classmate Brittany Dutton garnered a score of 9.400 on the floor exercise to place third in that event.
Sophomore Michelle Denise also collected a pair of top-three finishes for the Blue Team, scoring an 8.800 on the uneven bars (second) and a 9.300 on the vault (third).
Senior Kelly Lewis posted the lone event victory for the Silver Team, winning the vault with a 9.550. Freshman Lisa Wong finished second on the floor exercise with a mark of 9.500, while finishing third in the vault with a total of 35.450. Senior Katie Donnell rounded out the Silver Team's top-three finishers, placing third on the uneven bars with a score of 8.600.
The Falcons officially open the season on Friday, Jan. 18, when they host Centenary College during the first of seven home competitions.
