Air Force lost at TCU, 71-66, Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. BYU lost to San Diego State, 86-74, on Saturday in San Diego, Calif.
Coaches
Air Force is coached by Jeff Bzdelik (Illinois-Chicago, 1976), who is in his second season as head coach. Bzdelik returned to the college game last year after 15 seasons as a coach and scout in the NBA, most recently as head coach of the Denver Nuggets. Bzdelik has a collegiate career record of 72-44, including a 47-13 mark at Air Force. Bzdelik was the head coach at UMBC for two years from 1986-88. BYU is coached by Dave Rose (Houston, 1983), who is in his second season with the Cougars. He is 41-16 at the school and in his career.
Series
BYU leads the all-time series, 44-12. The Cougars defeated Air Force, 61-52, earlier this season in Provo, Utah.
Six Seniors To Be Honored After The Game
Six Falcons will play their final regular season game at Clune Arena on Tuesday against BYU. Jacob Burtschi, John Frye, Matt McCraw, Dan Nwaelele, Ryan Teets and Nick Welch will be honored by their teammates and coaches immediately following the game.
Burtschi is No. 12 on AFA's career scoring list with 1,116 points and set a new a new school record for most games played in school history on Saturday with his 119th.
Frye has played in 71 career games, including starting all 31 last season, and is averaging 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
McCraw is the school's career leader in three-point percentage at 46.6 percent and No. 2 in career free-throw shooting at 86.3 percent. He became the fifth player in school history to make 200 three-pointers in his career with five last Saturday at TCU.
Nwaelele is just behind McCraw on AFA's career list for three-point percentage at 46 percent and is fourth on the all-time free-throw percentage list at 84.9 percent. He needs 12 points to become the 21st player in school history with 1,000 career points.
Teets has appeared in 47 career games and started the first two games of his career earlier this season. He scored a career-high five points against Colorado College his sophomore season.
Welch is 17th on the school's career-scoring list with 1,053 points and is tied for eighth in career games played with 110. He posted the first double-double of his career with 17 points and career-high 10 rebounds earlier this season vs. Wake Forest.
