The Air Force lacrosse team is back in action this weekend, March 17, when it travels to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on 11th-ranked Bucknell. The game is slated to face off at 12:00 p.m. (ET).
Scouting the Falcons...
Air Force dropped to 1-3 on the season last week, falling to 18th-ranked Yale, 12-9, at the First 4 in San Diego, Calif.
The Falcons are led by senior captain Will Meister, who has 15 points on the season (6g, 9a), while sophomore Griffin Nevitt (8g, 6a) and Conrad Lochocki (7g, 5a) have recorded 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Scouting the Bison...
Bucknell, tied for 11th in the latest USILA Coaches Poll, enters this weekend with a 5-1 overall record. The Bison are coming off their first loss of the season, a 13-7 loss at No. 20 Fairfield.
Austin Winter is the team's leading scorer with six goals and 14 assists, while Tim Brandau (12 goals, seven assists) and Joe Mele (17 goals) rank second and third, respectively.
Bucknell is coached by Frank Fedorjaka (Hobart, `89), who has compiled a ledger of 11-9 mark in his second year at the helm of Bucknell's program and a career mark of 50-40 (seventh season).
In the Series...
This weekend's meeting with Bucknell will be the sixth in the all-time series, with the Bison undefeated against the Falcons. Last season, Bucknell escaped the Academy with a 7-6 victory, scoring four unanswered goals to end the game.
Against the Best...
Air Force has put together a particularly tough schedule this season, with eight of its 12 opponents ranked at some point this year. The Falcons are currently in the middle of a stretch of three consecutive games against a ranked opponent.
The Falcons' last victory over a ranked team was last season's upset win over No. 9 Notre Dame. Air Force also knocked off 16th-ranked Dartmouth in 2006.
The Assist Leader...
Senior Will Meister currently sits in seventh place on the Falcons' career assist list, with 73 assists. Meister sits just 11 assists out of sixth place, and could move into the top five by season's end.
Up Next...
The Falcons head to West Point, N.Y., next week, March 24, to meet with service academy rival Army. The contest is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. (ET).
