Air Force defeated Austin Peay, 75-51, at Clune Arena last Wednesday in the first round of the NIT. Georgia downed Fresno State, 88-78, in Athens, Ga., on Wednesday in the first round of the NIT.
Coaches
Air Force is coached by Jeff Bzdelik (Illinois-Chicago, 1976), who is in his second season as head coach. Bzdelik returned to the college game last year after 15 seasons as a coach and scout in the NBA, most recently as head coach of the Denver Nuggets. Bzdelik has a collegiate career record of 73-46, including a 48-15 mark at Air Force. Bzdelik was the head coach at UMBC for two years from 1986-88. Georgia is coached by Dennis Felton (Howard, 1985), who is in his fourth season with the Bulldogs. He is 58-62 at the school and 158-116 in 9+ seasons in his career.
