Air Force defeated DePaul, 52-51 at Clune Arena on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the NIT. Clemson downed Syracuse, 74-70, in Clemson, S.C., on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the NIT.
Coaches
Air Force is coached by Jeff Bzdelik (Illinois-Chicago, 1976), who is in his second season as head coach. Bzdelik returned to the college game last year after 15 seasons as a coach and scout in the NBA, most recently as head coach of the Denver Nuggets. Bzdelik has a collegiate career record of 75-46, including a 50-15 mark at Air Force. Bzdelik was the head coach at UMBC for two years from 1986-88. Clemson is coached by Oliver Purnell (Old Dominion, 1975), who is in his fourth season with the Tigers. He is 68-57 at the school and 324-248 in 19+ seasons in his career.
