Senior captain Sashonna Iwaniec was recently named the Most Valuable Performer at the Air Force women's gymnastics team's annual banquet, while sophomore Abigail Rogers was named Most Improved and Hardest Worker. The team looked back on a season that saw a new head coach, five invites to the USA Gymnastics Championships and the first step taken in the foundation of a solid future.
TEAM MVP
Senior captain Sashonna Iwaniec concluded four years of consistency with a selection to the USA Gymnastics All-America second-team. Iwaniec, a two-time Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic team member, posted four of her five season-best scores at the MPSF and USAG competitions. Following the MPSF championships, Iwaniec was awarded first-team honors on the vault, uneven bars and all-around, while collecting second accolades on the floor exercise.
MOST IMPROVED and HARDEST WORKER
Despite not competing as a freshman, sophomore Abigail Rogers quickly became one of the Falcons' most consistent performers as a sophomore. A strong all-around competitor, Rogers earned three all-conference selections from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, including a first-team honor on the floor exercise. Rogers, who was one of just five Falcons invited to compete at the USA Gymnastics Championships, also earned all-MPSF second-team honors on the vault and all-around. In addition to being named a MPSF Gymnast of the Week, she was named to the league's all-academic team
