Falcons Conclude Competition at TWU Quadrangular

DENTON, Texas - Junior Abigail Rogers guided the Air Force women's gymnastics team to a fourth-place finish at the Texas Woman's University quadrangular in Denton, Texas, on Sunday, Jan. 27. Highlighted by a career-best vault, Rogers posted the team's top finishes on the vault, floor exercise and all-around.
One week after setting personal-best tallies on every event except the vault, Rogers shattered her career-high mark in that event. Posting a score of 9.775, Rogers improved her personal total by 0.125 to take fifth. The only Falcon to tally top-10 finishes, Rogers also matched that score (9.775) on the floor exercise to finish seventh.
Sophomore Michelle Denise led the Falcons on the uneven bars, placing 15th with a score of 9.250, while classmate Kayla Kincade scored a team-high 9.000 on the balance beam (18th).
Senior Kelly Lewis finished within the top half of the field on the vault, garnering a season-best score of 9.625 to place 11th.
Rogers and Denise competed in the all-around, finishing second and third, respectively. Rogers tallied a score of 37.675, while Denise posted a combined score of 37.350.
The Falcons tallied 184.125 to take fourth in the quadrangular. No. 16 Denver won the meet with a score of 195.700, while Maryland finished second with 192.625. Host Texas Woman's University placed third with a combined total of 192.175.
Air Force returns to the Academy on Saturday, Feb. 2, when it hosts MIT in a dual meet. Action begins at 6 p.m., in the Cadet West Gym.
