Falcons Wrap Up Competition at Denver Quad

DENVER, Colo. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team wrapped up a weekend of competition with a fourth-place finish at the Paige Smith Invitational in Denver, Colo., on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Falcons tallied a score of 186.275 en route to the fourth-place finish. That total is the third-highest score of the season for Air Force.
Sixth-ranked Oklahoma scored 195.925 to narrowly defeat No. 13 Denver (195.700). Utah State rounded out the field with a third-place score of 192.275.
Freshman Brittany Dutton was the Falcons' top performer, earning the team's best finish on the vault, balance beam, floor exercise and all-around. In her season debut on the vault, Dutton scored a 9.600 to finish 18th. She also matched her career-high on the balance beam (9.700) to finish 11th, while upping her personal tally on the floor exercise (9.450) to finish 18th. In addition, she earned a combined score of 37.500 in the all-around to finish ninth.
The Falcons' other all-around competitor, junior Abigail Rogers, scored a 37.400 in the all-around to place 10th. Rogers was also the team's top scorer on the uneven bars, as she tallied a 9.425 to place 16th. In addition, she upped her score on the balance beam, tallying a 9.625 to place 14th.
Sophomore Kayla Kincade, who grew up in a suburb of Denver, picked up a pair of career-best scores. She scored a 9.650 to place 13th on the balance beam after tallying a 9.525 on the vault (20th). Kincade was one of three Falcons to garner career-high marks on the vault. Freshman Annette Ehrman joined Kincade and Dutton with that distinction, as she recorded a score of 9.200 to place 22nd.
Air Force returns to the Academy on Saturday, Feb. 16, when it hosts Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe UC-Davis in the Cadet West Gymnasium. Action is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
