Falcons Travel to Alaska for a Pair of Meets

The Air Force women's gymnastics team makes its longest road trip of the season this weekend, as it travels to Anchorage, Alaska, for a pair of dual meets with its Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Alaska-Anchorage. The two squads will first meet on Friday (March 14) at 7 p.m., before concluding the weekend series on Sunday (March 16) at 2 p.m. Both meets are scheduled to take place Service High School.
Meet Notes 08: at Alaska-Anchorage 
GOING BY RANK
Junior Abigail Rogers currently leads the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation on the floor exercise (9.765) and in the all-around (38.035). In addition, she is ranked fourth on the balance beam with a regional qualifying score of 9.565. Freshman Brittany Dutton is ranked third in the all-around (37.400), while sophomore Kayla Kincade and senior Kelley Lewis are listed seventh on the balance beam (9.545) and vault (9.600), respectively. Freshman Lisa Wong is ranked 10th on the floor exercise with a RQS of 9.490.
SCORING LIKE ITS 2005
At the Eagle Invitational, the Falcons tallied a 189.750. That score was not only the best of the season - upping the total of 189.500 they scored one week earlier - but it is also the highest Air Force score since the 2005 season. The Falcons top three scores of the season have now come in meets with Eastern Michigan.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force tallied its highest team score in three years during a fourth-place showing at the Eagle Invitational on March 8. The Falcons inched closer to the 190-point plateau, as it posted a combined score of 189.750. Air Force also increased its score on the floor exercise, as it accounted for a total of 48.075. That event also accounted for the squad's best finish, as junior Abigail Rogers picked up a third-place score of 9.800.
LEADING THE WAY
In addition to posting the best score on the floor, Abigail Rogers tied with Kayla Kincade for the top Air Force finish on the balance beam. The duo recorded matching scores of 9.600 to tie for sixth on that event. Michelle Denise was the top Falcon finisher on the uneven bars, collecting a total of 9.550 to tie for ninth, while Brittany Dutton and Kelly Lewis tied for eighth on the vault with scores of 9.625.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force returns to the Academy for its final home meet of the season on Monday, March 24. The Falcons will host local foe Denver at 6 p.m., in the Cadet West Gym. Air Force will have a quick turnaround, as it heads to Davis, Calif., on March 28-29 for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
