Falcons Open Busy Week Hosting No. 13 Denver

The Air Force women's gymnastics team has a busy week of competition lined up, as it concludes the regular season and begins the post-season in a five-day span. First, the Falcons host No. 13 Denver in the final home competition of the season on Monday, March 24. Then, Air Force will travel to Davis, Calif., for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Friday, March 28.

MISS ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD
After an impressive four-win weekend, Abigail Rogers was named the MPSF Gymnast of the Week, the league announced on Mar. 17. In the finale on March 16, Rogers posted first-place finishes on the balance beam and floor exercise, en route to a winning total in the all-around. In addition, she won the floor exercise on March 14.
"RANK" YOU VERY MUCH
The Falcons currently leads the MPSF on the floor exercise (47.885), while Air Force gymnasts lead the way on three events. Junior Abigail Rogers has the top Regional Qualifying Score on the floor exercise (9.850) and all-around (38.825), while freshman Brittany Dutton is tied for the top RQS on the balance beam (9.625).
SCORING LIKE ITS 2005
After hovering near the 190-point mark for four straight meets, the Falcons tallied 190.975 to defeat Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe, Alaska-Anchorage, on March 16. That is the best total by an Air Force squad since March 10, 2005, when it accumulated a score of 191.325.
AIR FORCE CLAIMS SECOND VICTORY
Highlighted by two individual event wins from Abigail Rogers, the Falcons picked up their second victory of the season. Bettering the field by .100 in both events, Rogers posted first-place finishes on the balance beam (9.700) and floor exercise (9.825), en route to a winning total on the all-around (38.825).
FIRST TIME UP
In the Falcons first meet with Alaska-Anchorage on March 14, they tallied its second highest score of the season, but succumbed to a 191.675-189.550 loss to the Seawolves. Abigail Rogers won the floor exercise (9.825), while Brittany Dutton took first in the all-around with a combined score of 38.200.
BACK-TO-BACK WINS
During both of the Falcons' meets in Alaska, Abigail Rogers won the floor exercise with matching scores of 9.825 - a mark just 0.25 shy of her personal best.
NEUTRAL SITE STATS
Heading into the MPSF Championships, Air Force and Alaska are 1-1 at neutral sites, with the Falcons earning the last victory. Both meets during the March 14-16 weekend were held at `neutral' venue. UAA was hosting the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Western Regionals at the Seawolves' home, so the meet was moved to a local high school.
FROM THE FLOOR...
Abigail Rogers was one of three Falcons to highlight the top four of the floor exercise during the March 14 meet against UAA. Michelle Denise finished third (9.625), while Lisa Wong placed fourth with a score of 9.600. In addition, Kelly Lewis finished within the top half of the field, earning a sixth-place score of 9.450.
ENDING A TREND
The 190.975-190.250 victory on March 24 snapped the Falcons' seven-meet losing streak against its conference opponent. Until Sunday, Air Force hadn't beaten UAA since 2003.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Following their busy week, the Falcons are off from team competition until the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships on April 18-19 in Shreveport, La.
