Nick Frawley Wins Pole Vault at Willie Williams Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. - With a height of 16'10¾", sophomore Nick Frawley earned a first-place finish in the pole vault, as the Air Force track and field team opened the outdoor season on Friday, March 21, at the Willie Williams Classic in Tucson, Ariz. Frawley was one of three top-two finishers for the Falcons during the first day of competition.
Sophomore classmate Sara Neubauer threw a distance of 47'9" to place second in the shot put, while junior Sean Houseworth clocked a time of 3:51.58 to take second in the 1500-meter run.
Air Force accounted for seven other top-six finishes. Senior Travis Picou clocked a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash behind a time of 21.46. Classmate David Lissy placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 56'0½". That mark - a personal-best distance - is the third-best in Academy history.
Senior Kevin Hawkins clocked a time of 3:56.61 to take sixth in the 1500-meter run, while junior Harmon Gage cleared 196'7" to take that same placement in the javelin throw. Gage's mark is the 10th-best throw in Academy history.
Back on the women's side, sophomore Brittany Morreale (17:56.67) and freshman Katherine Ward (18:16.84) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 5000-meter run. Sophomore Katie Weber increased her personal distance in the javelin throw with a toss of 147'10", finishing fifth with the sixth-best time in Academy history.
The Falcons conclude action tomorrow (Mar. 22) at the Willie Williams Classic. The meet is a part of the Falcons' week-long training trip in Arizona.
