Colorado Springs, Colo. - Air Force senior water polo player Chris Pace was recently honored by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) with its annual All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award. The award recognizes student-athletes' dedication to strength training and conditioning.
Pace, a native of Santa Ynez, Calif., was one of 239 collegiate athletes from 165 schools honored with the award this year. The Falcons' weightlifting captain, Pace was named the water polo team's Hardest Worker for a third-straight season.
Air Force strength coach Kim Pinske, who nominated Pace for the award, had this to say about the senior: "Chris has played undersized his whole career for his position. Recognizing that, he has continually strived for excellence in the weight room and demanded the same from his teammates. He has always had a definite presence of leadership both in the pool and weight room, and his demeanor, self-discipline and stamina speak volumes of his character. Chris' success as an athlete, along with his drive and integrity, will ensure a successful career as an officer of the United States Air Force."
The NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year Award program is in its 29th year and is made possible by a grant from Power Systems, Inc., a Knoxville, Tenn., fitness product leader.
