Rifle Team Shoots Two Versus TCU

USAF Academy, Colo. - This past weekend, the Air Force rifle team hosted two contests with the rifle team from TCU, Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009. In the first contest, the Falcons lost 4560-4593, in the second contest the Falcons lost 4553-4605.
It was a rough start to the New Year for the Academy's rifle team with only one shooter setting a personal-best mark in Saturday's contest. Nick Krieger, a sophomore from McDonough, Ga., set a personal best of 576/600 in the smallbore match. Sophomore Tom Chandler was the team's air rifle top shooter with a score of 582/600 in the match. Freshman Kyle Phillips (Stockbridge, Ga.) finished the match with a 579/600 in air rifle. The cadets scored a 2259 in smallbore and a 2301 in air rifle for an aggregate 4560 versus TCU's 4593.
In Sunday's contest, Air Force lost, 4553-4605. In that contest, senior Brian Jarrell (Lufkin, Texas) shot a personal best 583/600 in the air rifle match. Chandler followed Jarrell's score with a 580. In the smallbore match, Chandler was the team's highest scorer with a 568. Freshman Pat Everson (Eagle River, AK) scored a 573 in air rifle. Phillips shot a 567/600 in smallbore. Freshman Mike Seery (Oregon, Ohio) finished the day in smallbore with a 562. Air Force finished the contest scoring 2307 points in air rifle and 2246 in smallbore (4553). TCU scored 2239 in air rifle and 2266 in smallbore (4605).
The Academy's rifle team's next contest is Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in Charleston, S.C. against The Citadel.
