Falcons Take First at Air Force Triangular

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Highlighted by three event victories and the all-around title from senior Abbey Rogers, the Air Force women's gymnastics team opened the season with a first-place finish at the AF Triangular on Friday, Jan. 9, at the Academy.
The Falcons tallied a team score of 188.125 to easily defeat Wisconsin-La Crosse (183.850) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (171.500), which finished second and third, respectively. The Falcons won all four events, including a sweep of the top three spots on the floor exercise.
Rogers tallied a 9.775 to win the floor exercise, while tying for first on the uneven bars (9.425) and balance beam (9.550). The team captain, who finished second on the vault with a 9.600, tallied a total of 38.350 to win the all-around.
The Falcons received strong scoring support from their youngest members, as freshmen claimed multiple top-three placements. Jenna Dudley was impressive in her collegiate debut, placing second on the floor exercise with a score of 9.775. She also tied with classmate Samantha Jones for third on the uneven bars (9.400). Fellow freshman Katie Shetley finished third on the vault with a mark of 9.525. Dudley and Jones finished second and third, respectively, in the all-around with totals of 38.000 and 37.325.
Air Force's strongest event of the night was the floor exercise, where the Falcons accounted for four of the top five placements and six of the top 10. Behind the one-two punch of Rogers and Dudley, sophomore Brittany Dutton garnered a 9.650 to take third, while classmate Lisa Wong scored 9.475 to take fifth. Jones earned a 9.325 to finish seventh and junior Aftan Boudreaux debuted on the floor with a 10th-place mark of 9.150.
Dutton also picked up a fourth-place tie on the vault (9.525) and matched fifth-place totals of 9.050 on the uneven bars.
The Falcons travel to Rogers' hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., to compete in the Pitt Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17. The four-team meet will feature Air Force, Bridgeport, New Hampshire and host Pittsburgh.
